Ms. Lai's Speech

I never thought that one day I'll reflect about some principal's speech cuz I'll either be snoring away as they speak, or horsing around with my classmates. I mean, who listens to principals' speeches?! Anyways, I broke a personal record yesterday when I actually listened AND even felt inspired and driven by her speech at the student leaders' investiture yesterday.

"Many people talk about leadership, and think about leadership, but very few really do something about leadership." - LaiLai.

I admit, being termed a leader is really quite appealing to me. I know I lack experience to be one and I hate responsibilities. I mean, I'm very dependent on people I deem trustworthy, though my judgement fails sometimes. I'm used to people looking out for me, and being responsible over me. I never gave a damn about others as long as I get what I want. You see, it sounds terribly selfish, like its all about me. Ha. But being in the vball ex-co has changed a certain element in my nature. I mean, for the first time in my life I'm driven to commit into the team. Still, thank God I'm not the captain of the team. Its really difficult to be one, looking at everything ling ah ling faced.

Anyways, back to the speech.

"Leaders, it is necessary that you push your members forward even when they don't believe in what your goal for the team is. Because it gives you the chance to give your members surprises of their own strength that they've never realise was there before."

This was my favourite part. We aim for the impossible and we might get it. But even if we don't, it trains character and our potential talent. Its really quite inspiring that we might actually surprise ourselves with strengths and talents we never knew we had.

Oh man, why am I reflecting on LaiLai's speech?! AhHhHh...later got Open Cup! So excited. tata then!
